Tennis
The tennis year for 2009 started of with First Term League. Most of the teams had mixed results, unfortunately there were no league winners this term, but they all did well and finished above average.
From an early age our students are exposed to the development of their tennis skills by taking part in Mini Tennis on Tuesdays and Thursdays during school hours. We introduced an extra hour on Wednesdays and half an hour on Fridays for Mini tennis to enhance improvement.
The ranking systems we introduced last year proof to be a success. A good number of challenge matches have been played the last couple of months. The player to end at no. 1 at the end of the year will be awarded player of the year. It is every player’s own responsibility to organize with me against whom and when they want to play challenge matches.
The top two standings at the moment are as follows:
Prep school boys:
No 1 – Stephen Gaitskill
No 2 – Mathew Whitehead
Prep school girls:
No 1 – Andrea Florice
No 2 – Tayla Fourie
College boys:
No 1 – Clinton Wernick
No 2 – Pedro de Gouviea
College girls:
No 1 – Becky Loacke
No 2 – Jessica Meyer
School practice times are as follow:
Tuesday 13h30 – 14h00 Beginners (Gr. 1 -3)
Wednesday 14h00 – 15h30 Prep school practice
Friday 15H00 – 16H00 College practice
These practice hours will continue throughout the year.
Next league matches starts in the 3rd term.
I would like to invite all girls in prep school and College to join the tennis practice and strengthen our league teams!
