Tennis

What a wonderful World Cup – Congratulations to Spain on winning the biggest sporting event on the planet!

Some of our students also achieved huge success on the tennis court this season.
Three of our students, Clinton Wernick, Stephen Gaitskill and Lynn Gaitskill are members of the Junior Gauteng East Tennis Provincial Squad.

Clinton Wernick, Grade 12 was captain of the u/18 Gauteng East Tennis Provincial Squad. He received Gauteng East SA schools colours & he captained the U/19 team.
He was also rewarded with SA Schools colours & was captain of the U/19 team.

Stephen Gaitskill, Grade 6, was awarded provincial colours this year. He represented Gauteng East in the U12 Interprovincial Team Challenge in Pretoria and in the National Primary Schools Week in Pietermaritzburg.Continue with your hard work and love for tennis so we can support you at Wimbledon soon!

The first term we entered u/11 mixed, u/13 boys, u/13 girls and college teams in the tennis league. The results were mixed with some of the teams just falling short of winning the league.

Attendance to practise escalated remarkably from last year, especially from the prep school. The new rule of having to take part in at least one sport did a lot for the college attendance to practise.  This will definitely help to enter more teams in the league next year.

One of the best ways to improve your hand/eye coordination is to participate in tennis. Children being introduced to mini tennis from gr0 – gr3 automatically receive that advantage.  This also counts as a very good platform for those who want to continue with tennis later.

Come on kids and join in the sport of a life time – tennis!
