College Netball Report
We entered six College teams in the League this year and were pooled with six other private schools. The Under 14’s played 6 games, winning 3. The Under 15’s were less fortunate, only playing 4 matches, with no wins, but showing great determination and sportsmanship. The Under 17’s played 4, winning 2. We were only able to secure 1 match for the Open “B” team.
We won this match against Rand College convincingly. The Open “A” team almost made it to the play-offs, winning five matches, and only losing to Saheti in the sixth. The Under 16 team had the best results of all. They won all five of their league games, and the section play-off, beating Pecanwood 14-7. At the final play-offs they were beaten by a very strong Helpmekaar team, but they had done exceptionally well to get so far and we congratulate them.
We also congratulate Palesa Sibuyi who was selected for the Under 16 Gauteng team.
To all the teams we say “well done!”. It was a very enjoyable season, and we are proud of our players who all showed great enthusiasm and excellent sportsmanship.

Prep Netball:
We have been very busy this netball season: the 5 netball teams in the prep school played Yeshiva and Dominican Convent and won all the matches against them, won 4 of the 5 matches against Assumption Convent and won 2, drew one and lost 2 matches against Sacred Heart. We also won all four of our matches against King David. We managed to win 2, draw 1 and lose 2 against St Catherines and our U 10’s managed to beat Reddam.
Well done to all the girls who showed tremendous spirit and sportsmanship throughout the season. You held our school’s name high!
One of our U12 players: Linda Sayi, was selected to represent Private schools at the GSS trials- we are very proud of her.
Thank you so much to the teachers involved: Mrs J Lourens, Miss L Loyd, Miss K De Beer, Mrs G Sheerin and Mrs T De Bruin- we know how busy you are yet you always give willingly and graciously of your time to improve your teams. The girls and I really appreciate it! To our Head Netball Coach: Chantell, you always manage to get our girls to achieve the excellent results and we are so grateful to have you as a coach and umpire! Thank you to our coaching team for this year- Dominique, Michelle, Rene, Kerry and Becky. The girls all benefited from your expertise in the sport and you have managed to instill in them both a commitment and enjoyment for netball!
We have a wonderful support system for our matches to happen: thank you so much to Mrs A Ebersohn and Mrs J Lourens who always ensure we have wonderful refreshments on hand at all home matches, to the drivers: Sam, Edward and Jimmy who get us safely and on time, to and from matches and to all the male Phys. Ed. Staff who always set up the courts, for matches.
We have had some incredible support- from Fr Ellis blessing us as well as the teachers and coaches that put an incredible amount of time into training these girls and the parents who come and support us at matches- it always pays off!
To those girls that are leaving us this year from both our 1st and 2nd Netball teams- Veronika, Roxy, Jacci, Natalie, Dineo, Jessica, Bongi - we will miss you lots! The younger players who played for the U18’s: Siya, Sitha, Thembi, Micaela, Palesa, Pinky, Resego, Kirsty and Nozi - we look forward to seeing what you can do next year now that you have even more experience!
Thank you to everyone involved for a wonderful netball season!
