GIRLS BASKETBALL REPORT

This past season we managed to have the ladies team running the U14 and Open (U18).
The season was satisfactory on both fronts, especially our U18 team.  Out of 8 games played the girls managed to have a win percentage of 75%, winning 6 out of 8 games.  We at the school have great hope for this team and know that something great will happen with this team (like going a whole year undefeated) it’s only a matter of time.

Our U14 team is still a work in progress and with more time we know at some point it will finally come together and they will enjoy the same and an even better win percentage than the Open team.  We managed to play 6 games and won 1, tied 1 and lost 4. The results of this team need not be taken to heart as most of these girls are still finding their feet in the sport of basketball.

The coach and the team would like to thank the parents and the school for showing us support all the time and we promise that there is still more to come from both teams.

We would like to encourage those who want to join the teams to feels free to attend practices as soon as next season starts, all are welcome.

BOYS BASKETBALL REPORT

The year in basketball was a transitional year on the boy’s side. Result wise, it was not a very successful season, but a rebuilding phase of the sport at Bishop Bavin School.

Although the numbers have decreased at senior level we have noticed an increased number of students who want to play the sport at the junior level. A very good sign for the future of the sport at the school.

The senior team did not fair well in the first term, out of eight games they managed two victories, and however, they kept their spirits high! The junior teams did not have as many games but managed three victories out of four games. Brilliant results considering they had just started playing the game.
In the beginning of the third term the school entered the junior terms (U/12 and U/13) into their own league, the ISASA mini league, meaning they will be to get more competitive games against recognized basketball playing schools. They started well with the U/12 winning against St. John’s, the U/13 losing against St. Johns by only three points.

Our senior team is starting to play like a team on the rise. Soon enough the wins and the sportsmanship that the school prides itself on will be a constant feature.
