Morgan Ellis Speech Festival

On the 14th May 2009 Bishop Bavin School hosted their second annual Morgan Ellis Speech Festival for College learners. The festival’s success was measured by the entry of forty three speakers from twelve schools across Gauteng. The standard of the speeches was exceptionally high with the topics carefully selected by Father Ellis and Miss Bridget Tinniswood. Father Ellis, our guest of honor, is passionate about the arts and this festival was an appropriate tribute to him.

Bishop Bavin speakers: Abigail Thatcher, Natalie Ehlers, Thuli Vundla and Brenna Weaver did us proud.
Father Ellis’ words that we are to pay tribute to the Heads of the Schools and the teachers who actively encourage cultural activities in their schools, rang very true. But above all to the learners who took part- we were so proud of you.

The results were as follows:

Best Junior Speaker                                        Saul Musker (King David Victory Park)
Runner-up Junior Speaker                           Michela Van Praag (St Dominics School)
Most Improved Junior Speaker                 Verushen Coopoo (King Edward School)
