mission
statement

"...The timeless elegance of the restored Herbert Baker buildings and the living vibrancy of expansive gardens encompass a gentle place of learning for Bishop Bavin’s boarders and day scholars. It is a place of learning where the child is king and where the eternal virtues of integrity, love and endeavor are carefully expounded.

The spiritual ethos of Bishop Bavin permeates every aspect of school life. In a family atmosphere of Christian care and concern, our school seeks to enhance the religious, moral, intellectual, physical and social development of our students.

The school operates on the basis of emphasizing "care" and insisting that the environment created is one in which each pupil can be nurtured. Relationships that engender trust, respect and co-operation between pupils themselves, pupils and teachers, and pupils and families are crucial within this nurturing process.

A caring, experienced and dedicated staff support and encourage academic excellence, while, at the same time, allow students to participate in open communication, decision making and problem solving.

It is our hope that Bishop Bavin is truly "a step beyond."..."

Father M. A. Ellis Rector Bishop Bavin School

"...a litany of gratitude to the many who can contribute to a school which is going from success to success.

The contribution made by the Parent Teachers Student Association goes far beyond the financial, and enriches how we operate.

The Board of Governors, well represented by parents, is a tower of strength and has helped us to make pro-active and wise decisions. Thank you.

There are many benefactors to Bishop Bavin School ranging from assistance to bursaries, to gifts in kind, in material or service. We are most grateful to them.

In July1996, the Rector and I were in London with a view to launching a United Kingdom Bursary Appeal. The Reactor once again saw prospective Trustees in 1997...."

Mr. Richard Olfsen Chairman of the Board of Governors

"...The development of the school environment and providing sports facilities has been a primary objective. I have been fascinated that, in a South Africa of today, the involvement of parents and staff in the wider picture of school management is to be applauded.

It is with a sense of personal satisfaction that we have guided the progress of the school to the point where students will now be involved in the decision making of the Parent Teachers "Students" Association. This is a development that I personally applaud and believe it will be of great benefit to the school as a whole..."
