Bishop Bavin School is one of the few schools in South Africa that boasts its own Human Resource Department.  A Human Resource Specialist Department is a powerful tool within any organisation and plays an extremely important part in its success. Bishop Bavin School prides itself on having a highly specialised group of academic and non-academic staff members who make sure the school remains competitive in an unstable economic climate.

   
An overview of the functions that the Human Resources Specialist Department provides in the school include:  providing staff with support, opening up the channel of communication between staff and senior management, staff development, encouraging further education and training for all employees, making sure all staff follow school policies and procedures, drawing up staff contracts, making sure all staff operate in a safe and healthy working environment and helping senior management to provide a happy working environment for all employees.


Schools are rapidly moving into the future with an increase in technology and teachers share a huge responsibility in this change.  They themselves also have to adapt this new technology.  This has a significant effect on the way teaching is conducted in the classroom.  The HR specialist can further assist teachers who are struggling to adapt to come to terms with these changes by encouraging their further education and training in technology as well as other professional qualifications.   


Bishop Bavin School is at the forefront of education in South Africa and strives for excellence in all its endeavors.  Human Resources are an integral part of its success; therefore we can see why a Human Resource Specialist and Department is a vital cog in this well-oiled machine.
