Early
Learning Centre

We have had a wonderful year!  The days flow into weeks, the weeks into months and the months into the end of our academic year.  I am no longer the “new kid on the block” and feel very much at home within the Bishop Bavin family, and what a special family it is!  I would like to thank the teachers for their dedication and support and to thank them for adapting to changes that have been made with good grace.  It is not always easy accepting the “new broom” but your support of me is very much appreciated.

The Early Learning Centre, Nursery School and Spackman House, have been a hive of activity and our mornings have been full of energy, laughter, friendship and learning.
Colourful and interesting outdoor equipment has kept our children active and busy, whilst indoors the children have been provided with a variety of experiences that are appropriate, meaningful, interesting and full of fun.

We were visited by the eco-zoo, and the children interacted with a variety of unusual and exotic animals.  We also had the opportunity of witnessing the miraculous hatching of fluffy, yellow chicks over a number of days.  Children, parents and teachers alike were entranced.

The staff have attended a series of worthwhile workshops and conferences, focusing on early learning and development, and have come away inspired and motivated. They have also focused their attention on the early detection of possible learning difficulties.  Together with our resident Occupational and Remedial therapists, we are assisting children, helping them to overcome their learning difficulties.

I would like to thank Father Ellis and Miss Tinniswood for giving me the opportunity to be part of their great team and for their continued love and support.  A big thank you to all the staff members of the school, who have welcomed, encouraged and guided me.  I am privileged to be part of this great team.

Together with staff totally committed to their teaching and always ready to extend themselves for the sake of the children, we have a school which is the extension of the home – a school which is child’s haven, a place where all their social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs are met – a school of which we can be proud.

“As teachers we must believe in change, must know it is possible, or we wouldn’t be teaching – because education is a constant process of change.  Every single time you ‘teach’ something to someone, it is ingested, something is done with it, and a new human being emerges” – Leo Buscaglia
I wish you all a joyous festive season and a safe, peaceful holiday.
