Bishop Bavin School, St George’s, is an Anglican Independent School in South Africa that aims to be an outstanding school which provides a happy, inclusive, nurturing, encouraging, caring and safe environment for our learners and staff. Our ethos being that “The Child is King in this Palace of Learning” Marika Sboros, The Star.
Bishop Bavin’s motto is “Christ Above All” and, in all we do, we strive to fulfil this ideal. It is lived out in every aspect directed by our Rector, Revd Dr Morgan Ellis. Having a priest as Rector, and a true educationalist, truly creates a completely different approach to how the school is managed, the kind of outreach we undertake, the
stewardship of property and gardens, and the reinforcement of loving discipline.
Our school also assists young South Africans who need financial assistance to further their education. We never turn any child away and actively support, financially, emotionally and spiritually assist children who are either orphaned or in one-parent homes, as well as children that come from disadvantaged or previously disadvantaged sectors of our society and children with possible academic and sporting potential who need a stable environment in which to increase and develop these skills. Special consideration and support is always given to children with physical disabilities who could benefit in their sporting, cultural or academic development here at Bishop
Bavin School.
Our Rector, Father Morgan Ellis has a dream and vision to build a Multi - Functional Community Centre at Bishop Bavin School which will cater to our present and future Paralympics Stars. In a challenging economic environment, our humble aim is to upgrade and improve our school and sporting facilities to give our Stars every opportunity to shine and receive the best possible education, to see them into a bright future with endless possibilities.
We look forward to the future of a ground - breaking and opening ceremony for our Multi - Functional Community Centre as a 2010 project.
