COACH (
Coalition of Anglican Children’s Homes)

Coach is an integration of three children’s homes, St George’s, St Nicolas’ and St Joseph’s Homes. The integration of Coach occurred in the year 2002. However, our Homes have been in existence since the year 1915.

Our primary purpose is to fulfill the needs of the children in our care. Many of our young people have suffered a great deal of pain, trauma and trying times. Children come to us angry, abused, neglected and uncared for.

Our devoted professionals begin the process of identifying the needs and drawing up solutions from the initial stages of admission. Much effort is put into to this process as it requires many details on many different levels. Issues are dealt with children from the age of 0 up until the age of 18.

Our various component programmes address specific issues ranging from therapeutic care, life skills, education as well as day to day living skills. With all of our programmes, we are able to develop our children and their skills to cope in society as well as progress academically to work towards a better and brighter future.

Coach is a non governmental organization rendering services to children and families in need and as such is registered as a Public Benefit Organization with registration number 930 024 064 and is also registered as a Not for Profit Organization with registration number 052-658-NPO. As such we are exempted from tax and are able to issue a Section 18A Tax Certificate for all donations received for our worthy cause.

The beautiful property of Bishop Bavin School, is shared by Coach head office. St Nicolas Homes is situated in Westbury/ Sophiatown, and St George’s Homes is situated in Kempton Park. Another part of the original Bishop Bavin property is shared by the St George’s Village offering a different ministry to an older generation with different needs at their time in life. However, all are drawn to a common vision and commitment to serve others.

The strength of the relationship between Bishop Bavin and Coach has also made it possible for our common legacy to be more widely known. In this regard, I would like to pay tribute to Fr Morgan Ellis and all his staff for the support and assistance we receive.
